Laney is an only child being raised by her dad after her mom leaves them both with no explanation. Laney is anti social and closed off to other people other than her 2 best friends Evan Allen and  Kaitlyn Michaels. But after not being excepted to the same college her 2 best friend were excepted to.  She finds herself having to step out of her comfort zone and be more social in order to fit in.                                  

Things finally change for her One night when her new very social roomate Bennette covinces her to go to a college meet and greet where she meets her new friend Zack and  some not so intresting guys.   Ready to retreat back to her room where she finds comfort she decides one more room and they're done. But as soon as the door is opened and she spots the guy behind it she is stunned her room mate more so than she is. That is until she walks in an see the other 2 guys Sawyer and Dane 2 more hot guys that make her extremely nervous and ready to retreat when Dane notices her and their eyes meet she feels the pull between them. Which makes her confused because she has never felt anything like  that for anyone except Evan. Things begin to get more complicated for her because never really socializing with anyone other than Kaitlyn and Evan she is begining to connect on a different level with Dane at the same time growing apart from Evan. As she is growing up and into her own she realizes she is more confident and outgoing. By the time we got back to the ranch, it was well past one in the morning. Instead of parking at the house, he kept driving down the road, and then he parked in a pasture that had cows everywhere.

“Wow, you really take your cow-sitting job seriously,” I said.

He started laughing and turned to look at me. “You ready, sweetheart?”

My heart was pounding. “Are we going to make out?”

He smiled and let out a small laugh. “Oh no, baby. We’re going to do something much more fun. We’re going cow-tipping.” He jumped out of his truck and ran around to my door.

“Wait! What? I’m not tipping over a cow. Are you insane?” I said as he grabbed my hand and pulled me out of the truck.

He started laughing. “Baby, you can’t really tip them over. Besides, cows don’t sleep standing up.”

I stopped walking and let go of his hand. “Then, what are we doing in a field with cows in the middle of the night?”

“We’re going to play tag,” he said with such a serious look on his face.

“Huh?” I said with a chuckle.

“Tag. You said one of your favorite things to do is play tag in a field of cows. So, we’re playing tag”—he looked around and pointed to the cows—“in a field of cows.”

I busted out laughing. “Oh my God, Reed. I was kidding with y’all when I said that.”

He smirked and hit me on the shoulder. “Tag! You’re it!” he yelled before he took off running.

“Reed! It’s dark, and I can barely see!” I shouted.

“That makes it all the more fun. The moon is out. I can see perfectly.”

I put my hands on my hips and said, “First off, you’re a cowboy, so you should be able to see.” I tilted my head and rolled my eyes. That even sounded stupid to me. “And second, I’m in my good pair of boots and jeans.”

He stepped out from behind a cow. “Are you afraid you can’t catch me?”

Oh no, he didn’t. “Pesh, I can catch you. I happen to be very skilled in playing tag.”

He slowly walked up to me, bent down, and kissed me. “I think we could have fun with the many different ways we could play tag together.”

I sucked in a breath of air. I had never been romanced like this, and what he was doing to me was both thrilling and annoying.

He hit me on the shoulder again. “You’re still it!”

He went to turn and run away, but he slipped in something. I couldn’t help but start laughing as it looked like he was slipping on ice. The next thing I knew, he was down on the ground, yelling out every curse word known to man. I put my hands over my mouth to try to hold in my laughter.

“Motherfucking son of a bitch! Fucking cows and your damn shit!” Reed yelled out as he tried to stand up, but he slipped again.

“Jesus, are you slipping in cow shit?” I was laughing my ass off.

He looked at me, and I froze.

“Oh no! No, Reed…you wouldn’t. Reed…” I started backing up as Reed stood. “Reed…if you touch me with cow shit anywhere on your clothes, I swear, any chance of having sex with me is out the door.”

The next thing I knew, he began taking off his clothes. I kept walking backward until I bumped into a cow. The damn thing didn’t even move. Reed walked up and put his hands on the cow, placing them on either side of me. I glanced down at his naked body as I licked my lips, and I swore I could feel my panties getting wetter by the second. I swallowed hard and looked up into his eyes.

“I, um…I’m seriously thinking I could make love to your stinky ass and not even care,” I whispered.

The Broken series is one of my favorite series! And once again, Kelly did not disappoint with "Broken Dreams". Through the whole book my emotions were all over the place. I literally cried and laughed out loud on various occasions. We first met Courtney and Reed in "Broken". They were Layton and Whitney's best friends, who hated one another. Courtney is hilarious, horny, and a little spit fire. She has a hard time getting past the secret she been holding onto, since she was 16 yrs old. Reed was as charming as ever with his own doubts. He just makes you swoon.... Who doesn't want a sexy as fuck romantic cowboy to fall in love with..... The anticipation for "Broken Promises" is going to be torture, after reading the sneak peek.

His strong arms held me tightly, like he might never get the chance to

I have lived my whole life with comments from both, relative strangers and close friends telling me I should write a book. People continually tell me I have an ability to tell a story and make even the mundane sound interesting. (I’m personally not aware of that.)

The thought of doing this, was something I never thought I would entertain, because being dyslexic, during my childhood and adolescence, I found it very difficult to get past how to spell something, never mind how coherent the sentence sounded. So writing a few paragraphs usually made me sweat.

As a child I discovered coping strategies and developed my own ways of getting by, I wasn’t stupid by any stretch of the imagination, but left school at fifteen without any academic qualifications. I wasn't diagnosed with dyslexia until I attended university at the age of thirty. 

(Both of my children were diagnosed with dyslexia, one at the age of seven and one much later, although, I could see my traits present in him, and both have excelled academically in their chosen professions.

Thanks to the invention of the computer and information technology, my world changed. I learned how to communicate in written form effectively, not afraid to use language present in my oral skills that were lacking in my written work, for fear of spelling them wrongly, which gave me the confidence to write the books. Had I, had to write a book on paper, I know I would never have finished the first page.

I recently discovered the joy of writing after a challenge by a friend, which turned into three books. As I am constantly challenging others to face their demons, I decided, after some persuasion, to brave it out and share the books with others. I don’t have any expectations for them other than to tell the story.

This was a huge step for me, and took courage because there are so many fabulous clever people out there, writing amazing pieces of work that sadly, very few people ever see. 

My work:  I have had the pleasure (and the drama) of working in The National Health Service and in an independent capacity for Social Services in the UK for many years. My work has been supporting many women, children, young people, and families during this time. Sometimes, this has been at some of the toughest or most vulnerable times in their lives. 

During this time I have observed the communications of all parties involved both, in their relationships with others and how their decisions affect the subsequent outcomes for them and others. I have shared in the births and in the deaths of some of these people, and I never take advantage of the privilege my position brings me.

People ask what does the K.L. stand for K.L. Shandwick is a pseudonym. This isn’t to ‘hide’ behind, (I am not ashamed of what I’ve written), but to afford my clients the appropriate level of confidentiality by association. So, K L stands for KL. I am an independent author, who presently self publishes through kindle, but I hope to have a print copy of my books shortly.
